Yes, you will have seen that the Munich brand celebrates its 100 years of life in 2023, which is why they launch the BMW R nineT 100 Years and the BMW R 18 100 Years.
The story goes back to 1922, when Max Fritz designed the first engine for the first BMW, a boxer of course, which would go on sale in September 1923.
This model was the R32, the beginning of a saga that would remain inseparable, 100 years later, two of its characteristics: boxer engine and cardan transmission.
To celebrate this milestone in the Bavarian brand, they are launching two new versions of two already known models, the R nineT and R 18, which differ only by their aesthetics and components.
And so it is, since the BMW R nineT 100 Years and BMW R 18 100 Years are equipped with a good number of optional components from the Option 719 series, as well as new decoration and old-style chrome parts. And the identification plate of the series on the tank is not missing.
The R nineT 100 Years and R 18 100 Years are limited editions of 1,923 copies.
The naked BMW R nineT 100 Years roadster features 719 Classic wheels with black anodized rims, as well as Option 719 Shadow milled cylinder head covers, engine sump covers, seat stays and oil filler cap.
It also incorporates adjustable levers, rider and passenger footpegs, expansion tank caps and milled bar end mirrors, from the Option 719 Shadow II series.
It’s topped off with a two-tone seat, adaptive headlight, heated grips, cruise control, and Driving Modes Pro.
As for the paint, the fork tubes or the air intake tube are now decorated in black, white fillets are added on the tank, fenders and tail, and chrome is present in some areas of the fuel tank and on the tail .
If we talk about the cycle part, the rest of the components or the boxer engine -4T, air/oil, 8V, DOHC, IE- of 80 CV remain unchanged compared to the base model.
In the great custom BMW R 18 100 Years, equipped with the brand’s largest boxer engine ever built, the same recipe has also been applied, with slight variations, of course.
They are equipped with new decoration, chrome parts, two-tone seat and accessories from their Option 719 and Chrome series
The paint is in rigorous black and is complemented by a double threading on the tank and rear fender, elements that also combine black with chrome areas.
The seat is also two-tone, in black and maroon, with a very classic diamond upholstery, and mounts a pair of classic chrome exhaust silencers, but signed by Akrapovic.
And it also equips a wide selection of special chrome accessories from the Chrome series, such as nocks, engine crankcase covers, intake manifold trims, handlebars -also counterweights and risers-, gear and brake levers, mirrors, brake master cylinders and brake calipers.
You could not miss more optional equipment but that is included as standard, such as Headlight Pro with adaptive turning light, reversing assistant, cruise control and heated grips.
And one last detail, each of these models – which will be manufactured in the Spandau, Berlin factory – is limited to only 1,923 units, for a more than obvious reason that you may have already guessed.
The BMW R nineT 100 Years is priced at 21,878 euros, while the BMW R 18 100 Years is offered for 26,819 euros.
