According to all the indications, it is very likely that KTM is considering putting into circulation a third version of the KTM 1290 Super Adventure, which would accompany the S and R versions. Let us remember that the first one is more oriented to asphalt with alloy wheels and wheels. 19” front. The second to off road with spoked wheels and 21” rim diameter on the front end.
At least that is clear from some European homologation data, of which we have become aware through the Italian publication Moto.it. Also, and according to the same source, it would be a simpler version than the S, and therefore cheaper. For this theory, two key elements are taken: on the one hand, the lack of a nomenclature, and on the other, the difference in weight.
Approximately a year ago, this news circulated through the specialized media. But the view is that the project was not brought to production. Now we return to the subject due to the new 2022 homologation, which suggests that now its time has come.
There are currently no images of the new model, not even clear information. Just some data regarding its dimensions and weight. Its measurements would be traced to those of the KTM Super Adventure S, shorter and shorter than the R, which also equips longer-travel suspension. And its weight would be 240 kg, five less than the current version.
This small difference would not be due to the adoption of lighter components, but to the simplification of the equipment of the S version. Something that would be achieved, for example, by replacing the current WP APEX SET semi-active suspensions, or by eliminating the Bosch radar system that is necessary to adaptive cruise control or collision warning system.
The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S in its 2022 version is priced at €19,999, and the 1290 Super Adventure R at €20,599. If the new version reaches production, we hope that the price will be significantly reduced so that this effective and impressive maxitrail is available to a greater number of potential users.
