The way in which DGT fines are notified will change as of November 1. How will this change affect you in just a few days?
On November 1, the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) is preparing an important change in the fine notification system, a modification resulting from the advancement of technology and its implementation in all Administration bodies. At the beginning of the month it was reported that next Tuesday the way in which the DGT sends notifications to offenders will change.
This momentous change will not affect all drivers equally, since it is only applicable to legal entities, that is, companies, entities, rental and leasing companies.

And it is that as of November 1, notifications of fines of any kind, including speeding of cars, motorcycles, trucks or any type of vehicle, will be issued electronically for all those drivers whose vehicles are registered in the name of a legal person.
These notifications of infractions will be delivered through the service of the Electronic Road Address, the DEV. In order for legal entities to receive fine notices, they will have to be registered in the system, a registration that can be carried out voluntarily or that, once November 1 has passed, the DGT will do so ex officio to all those who have not registered.
For the rest of the drivers there will be no changes. This means that private drivers who commit any type of offense against road safety or fail to comply with any rule of the General Traffic Regulations will receive a notification by registered ordinary mail at their address.
