The Swedish brand Polestar presented this weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed a prototype of the Polestar 5, a high-performance four-door electric sedan that will be the brand’s first model to use a completely new platform designed exclusively for one hundred percent electric models. The brand’s engineers announce a maximum power of 884 hp and 900 Nm of torque for this model with an 800-volt architecture.
This new vehicle, designed to compete at the top of the premium electric car market against models such as the Audi e-Tron GT, the Tesla Model S or the Porsche Taycan, among others, debuts a new welded aluminum platform that provides great structural rigidity combined with lower weight. The electric motor, which will be located on the rear axle, will be the most advanced developed to date by the brand.
The series car, which is in its final phase of development and should be on the market in 2024, once the Polestar 3 and 4 have been launched, is an evolution of the Precept prototype, which was presented at the Munich show this year past and that already then was announced as the car that would close the range of this new Swedish manufacturer, technologically related to Volvo and belonging to the Chinese group Geely.
Polestar has recently started its activities in Spain where it has put the Polestar 2 up for sale, a car that is having a notable sales success in countries where electric models are already a proven reality, such as Norway, Sweden or the Netherlands.
