Porsche is introducing a new infotainment system for the 997 generation Porsche 911, the 987 Boxster and Cayman and the first generation Porsche Cayenne.

Although the essence of a good sports car is its engine and road behavior, many people are attracted to being able to plug their iPhone into the car or having a touch screen. But if you have a Porsche from 15 or 20 years ago, you will hardly be able to do that. For this reason, the German brand launches a new infotainment system for the 911, Boxster and Cayenne from the mid-2000s.

Things like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, wireless chargers, and touch screens are commonplace today, but not back then.

In 2020, Porsche remedied this, offering the touchscreen Porsche Classic Communication system for classic 911s and a PCCM Plus setup for the 996-generation Porsche 911 and Porsche Boxster 986.

Now, Porsche is introducing a new infotainment system for the 997 generation Porsche 911, the 987 Boxster and Cayman and the first generation Porsche Cayenne. In the case of the SUV, the PCCM Plus system is wider and has the keys on both sides of the screen, instead of at the bottom.

Both units have a seven-inch touch screen, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation with 2D or 3D maps and an on-board computer.

Different versions for Europe and North America

In addition, the German brand has developed different versions for Europe and North America. On the old continent, it has DAB + digital radio while, on the other side of the Atlantic, it has SiriusXM satellite radio.

In the case of the 911, Boxster and Cayman, the option to include adjustments for functions such as lights, windshield wipers, climate control or door locks is also available, depending on the model’s equipment.

The new infotainment systems cost $1,475.99 in the United States and €1,520.37 in Germany, although you will have to pay extra for mapping data.
