The Praga ZS 800 that we bring to the solomoto.es website is classic art in motion. A motorcycle really as particular as it is spectacular. To begin with, let’s say that it has a price of €86,000, taxes aside. What justifies such an amount? Let’s see it!

Praga is a Czechoslovak march born in 1907, which was dedicated to the manufacture of motorcycles and automobiles. He currently has the Praga Bohema in his portfolio, a car worth 1 million euros!

With the ZS 800, he pays homage to the Prague BD 500 that appeared at the end of the 1920s. 1,800 units of that motorcycle were manufactured over seven years. Of this new model, only 28 motorcycles worthy of collectors will be produced.

It is a completely handmade motorcycle, with a weight of only 142 kg (dry), and a series of very special components. For example, carbon fiber rims mimic those of the old spoke design. In themselves they are a world first, and they certainly look impressive.

In addition, it incorporates hydraulic drum brakes in honor of the bike in which it is seen, and they obviously lack ABS. While the headlight, with the instrumentation integrated into its back, is a nod to the original model.

The monoshock parallelogram front fork is made of titanium and weighs just 4.8kg. The handmade machining of the frame has taken more than 300 hours for each unit, crazy. It incorporates other carbon fiber components, such as the seat suspended by shock absorber. For its part, the titanium exhaust has been 3D printed.

The engine is that of the Kawasaki W800. A 773 cc air-cooled twin for which 47 hp of maximum power is declared.

The weight split is 50/50, and it’s designed to be driven, not just admired. For Jan Žuži, designer from Prague: “We have designed and developed a motorcycle with a lot of modern technology but an old design. It can be a work of art to admire in someone’s office. But it’s a really fast bike that can be ridden perfectly, and maybe no one expects that.”

The Praga ZS 800 is classic art in motion, at a prohibitive price, yes, except for the lucky 28 who purchase one of the manufactured units.
