Alonso finally has his Saudi Arabian GP trophy!
Fernando Alonso claimed after the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix the third place trophy that the FIA gave to George Russell after sanctioning the Asturian driver. The Briton rose to third place momentarily, since hours after the race in Jeddah and after a claim from Aston Martin, the FIA removed the punishment for Alonso, who returned to third place in the standings.
The trophy, however, has remained in Russell’s hands for a few more days. Although Fernando asked George – with whom he has a very good relationship – to return his trophy in a somewhat peculiar and ‘trolling’ way, the cup has traveled to Great Britain with the Mercedes team. And this Wednesday, both the German team and its pilot followed Fernando’s story on social networks.
First, Russell publicly asked Alonso for his address, to which Fernando responded with an animation that said “Give me what I want.” Even the Fernando Alonso Museum had to intervene, giving the address of where it is located, in Llanera (Asturias). But the joke continued, and to tell the truth, Mercedes worked it out.

The team led by Toto Wolff, which Alonso has already beaten in two consecutive races to reach the podium, published a video in which he handed over the trophy, from the Brackley office, where Russell kept it, to the showcases of Aston Martin’s headquarters in Silverstone, just a 17-minute drive away.
Actually, although they are not the same teams, Mercedes is also ‘to blame’ for the success of the team currently made up of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, since the German company is in charge of motorizing Aston Martin. And, as can be seen, the relationship between the two teams is also very good.
Alonso is excited about his start to the 2023 season, as for the first time in more than ten years, he has a car that is at least podium ready. As he himself has said on several occasions, this is just the tip of the iceberg, since the car will improve during the season thanks to the introduction of improvements.
