Tata’s new electric SUVs promise up to 500 kilometers of autonomy. They are called Harrier, Sierra and Curvv, and they have just been introduced in New Delhi.

The Auto Expo 2023 in New Delhi, in India, has left us many novelties. Among them, we have met the Suzuki eVX Concept, which will become the first electric model of the Japanese company, and the 5-door Suzuki Jimny. But there is more. And it is that Tata has presented its new offer of electric SUVs that promise up to 500 kilometers of autonomy.

At the moment they are concept cars, but Tata Motors has reported its intention to put them into production in the coming years or even months. And it is that the company that owns Jaguar-Land Rover also sells products under its own brand and competes in India for the top positions with Maruti-Suzuki, so these launches are really important.

Tata Sierra EV

The offer of new electric SUVs includes three different models called Harrier, Sierra and Curvv. The Sierra EV is a modern reinterpretation of the Indian SUV marketed by Tata between 1991 and 2003, and the model revealed in New Delhi is the second concept car after the first shown in 2020, a car that now seems closer to its production version.

The Tata Sierra EV is the largest of the three models presented by the Indian manufacturer. It stands out for its clean design and muscular forms, with marked wheel arches, flush door handles, the design of the C-pillar fused with the roof and a truly modern rear that is reminiscent of some Land Rover models.

Based on Tata’s ALFA platform, the Sierra EV will be available with fully electric motors and in versions with internal combustion engines. Its launch on the market is expected to take place in 2025.

The second model in the new SUV range is the Tata Harrier EV. It will be based on an electrified version of the platform used in the Range Rover Evoque and will be offered in electric versions with all-wheel drive thanks to a dual-motor configuration and 60 kWh battery that will debut in 2024. It announces between 400 and 500 kilometers of autonomy according to the Indian certification cycle.

It will be available with both a combustion engine and an electric one and is a coupé-style crossover around 4.3 meters long that sits above the Tata Nexon EV within the range.
