The 2023 DS 3 loses the Crossback name and is slightly updated with a more modern design, incorporating new technologies and assistants, and offering a 100% electric E-Tense version that increases power and autonomy.

From the outside you will be able to distinguish the new DS 3 thanks to its new grill, a little more mature and that dispenses with the chrome to give more prominence to the color black. Also the LED headlights (standard across the range), have a different design, with three distinct modules (as an option you have the DS Matrix LED Vision).

The wheels also have a new design, in sizes 17 and 18 inches (those of the DS 3 E-Tense version are the most aerodynamic and help optimize autonomy). Behind, the pilots darken and the word DS Automobiles appears.

An interior dominated by technology

Inside, the DS 3 E-Tense offers good quality, with Alcantara and leather for the sporty Performance Line and Performance Line+ variants. The steering wheel is also new, with the controls for the cruise control and the controls for the multimedia system.

A new 10.3-inch screen with the new infotainment system DS Iris System and all driving assistants (traffic sign identification, lane keeping, automatic emergency braking…) is now offered as standard across the range. .).

But the protagonist in the renewal of the DS 3 is the E-Tense, which receives a new electric motor and a new battery to improve both performance and autonomy. Now it delivers 156 CV that is fed by a new 54 kWh battery that provides an average range of up to 404 kilometers on a single charge.

Charging times have also improved, since the DS 3 E-Tense is capable of charging at 100 kW in direct current (it goes from 10 to 80% in just 30 minutes), while it reaches 11 kW in alternating current (it takes to complete a charge about 5 hours and 45 minutes).

The smoothness of driving and the silence of the march of this DS make it highly recommended, since the suspensions are comfortable in any situation and it does not matter if you are driving on wide highways, on streets in worse condition or on secondary roads.

The DS 3 E-Tense offers two driving modes, Normal and Sport, and there is a big difference in response between the two. In the most dynamic mode you can overtake with total ease, because the car accelerates quite well.

And all this with some really interesting consumption, since I obtained a somewhat higher consumption than the official one, but all within reason: if the official figure is 15.6 kWh per 100 km, the on-board computer ended up with a figure of 17.1.

Conclusions? The DS 3 E-Tense is reinforced with this electric variant that shines at a level that it needed and that improves the previous DS 3 in everything.
