If they had it, no model for sale could qualify for them.
The Moves III Plan was launched in 2021 with a budget of 400 million euros, with the aim of subsidizing the purchase of clean cars: plug-in hybrids, electric cars, electric cars with extended range and hydrogen cars. However, for each there are different conditions.
And it is that, within this group, the battery electric ones (BEV), the extended autonomy ones (REX) and the plug-in ones (PHEV) are limited by the maximum price they can have: to be eligible for the aid they have to cost less of 45,000 euros before applying taxes.
This means that a multitude of models are left out of the equation, since in the vast majority they have a cost higher than that figure.
The only ones that do not have a price cap are hydrogen cars. Although no official reason has been given for this, the one we can give is that, if an economic limit similar to the rest of the cases were applied, simply, no fuel cell model would be eligible for aid.
It must be remembered that in Spain, to this day, only two hydrogen models are marketed, the Toyota Mirai and the Hyundai Nexo, and both are well above that limit: the Toyota starts at 68,900 euros and the Hyundai is even more expensive, from 73,450 euros.
In this way, if they were limited to the same conditions, none would be eligible to receive the state subsidy. This, yes, is identical to that of the rest of the electric ones: 4,500 euros that increase up to 7,000 euros if a vehicle with more than seven years old is scrapped.
Hydrogen cars for sale in Spain
The Mirai is in its second generation, one that has evolved considerably, especially in terms of design, adopting the format of an elegant sedan almost five meters long.
It is only available with a 182 hp engine with which it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in nine seconds and reaches a top speed of 175 km/h. It has three hydrogen tanks and approves a range of 700 kilometers.
The Nexo is a large SUV (4.67 meters) that mounts a 163 hp propulsion system, with which it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 179 km/h. It also has three deposits and its range of action is 670 kilometers.
