Having electrified versions in the range is not essential in 2023, but it is an element that can potentially help improve sales. Even if you have some, it’s still better if you branch out into other types of technologies. This is what happens to the Citroën C5 Aircross, which finally launches a micro-hybrid version.
Until now only available with traditional combustion engines or as a plug-in hybrid car, the Frenchman now incorporates a variant with the DGT ECO label, the Citroën C5 Aircross Hybrid 136.
Its heart is the three-cylinder PureTech 1.2 petrol engine, which develops a power of 136 HP and a maximum torque of 230 Nm. This is supported by a belt starter and a small electrical block that provides an additional 28 hp and 55 Nm. The ensemble is completed by the electrified dual-clutch gearbox, the ë-DCS6.
Citroën has not specified its consumption, but its CO2 emissions, which stand at 129 g/km, representing 15% lower emissions (20 grams less) than the equivalent non-electric gasoline version, the PureTech 130 EAT8 .
For the rest, it maintains the characteristics of the model, such as its suspension and the Citroën Advanced Comfort seats, and is available with all trim levels in the range: Feel, Feel Pack, Shine and Shine Pack.
The peculiarity that it presents in the interior is focused on the digital instrument panel, which has a specific screen in which information is displayed according to its hybrid nature: tachometer in blue, energy flow of the hybrid motor, charge level of the battery, driving mode (Charge, Eco, Power) and percentage of distance traveled in electric mode.
The Citroën C5 Aircross Hybrid 136 has not yet revealed its prices, although they should entail a slight extra cost compared to the 130 hp gasoline, which starts at 28,660 euros. It has been confirmed that it will arrive at dealerships during the second half of the year.
