The first unit of the EV hypercar has already been delivered
The importance of the Rimac Refrigerator for the company that now owns Bugatti has been enormous in recent years. This hypercar, which is also fully electric, has finally seen the first units come out of its factory in Zagreb, Croatia. And Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg has become the car’s first owner.
The former Mercedes driver visited the facilities of the company founded by Mate Rimac to see first-hand the advances and processes that lead to the creation of this sports car. A job that can extend up to five weeks per unit.
The Rimac Nevera #000 will stay at the brand’s headquarters, and was sheathed in a bright green color called Calisto with a sand alcantara interior. Nico Rosberg’s car, on the other hand, is closer to the ‘batmobile’ concept that the driver himself commented on.
The body sports a Stellar Black color, Vertex chrome wheels and gloss black brake calipers. The interior is made of black alcantara fabric and Rosberg’s signature is printed on the armrest identification plate next to the 1/150 numbering.
“Ever since I met Mate and really understood the genius behind the Nevera, I knew I wanted the number one car. To me, this car represents absolutely everything I could wish for. It showcases the best of electrification technology, taking it to a car literally designed from the ground up to be the fastest and coolest to drive,” said Rosberg.
The Rimac Refrigerator has four electric motors (one on each wheel). The combined power of all (with 70% sent to the rear axle) amounts to 1,914 hp and 2,360 Nm of torque. It is one of the fastest sports cars on the planet, with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 1.97 seconds and a top speed of 412 km/h.
Its architecture is the same as that of the Pininfarina Battista, and both share engines and a 120 kWh battery system created by Rimac made up of lithium, manganese and nickel cells. The maximum battery recharging power accepted by the car is 500 kW, and the circuit voltage rises to 800 V.
Its electric autonomy will be about 550 kilometers, it incorporates active aerodynamics in the bodywork and has a driving assistance system managed by the NVIDIA Pegasus operating system, from the famous manufacturer of graphics cards, processors and artificial intelligence software.
The brakes incorporate 390 mm carbon-ceramic discs with 6-piston fixed calipers and battery regenerators that can reach 300 kW when braking. The luxurious interior stands out for its futuristic bucket seats and three screens: instrument panel, center console multimedia interface and passenger screen.
An electric sports car that comes to change the history of the automotive industry and that after many years of research, is already a reality that can be seen on the most exclusive roads in the world, such as those of the Principality of Monaco, where the Rosberg Refrigerator will end up .
