Suzuki Jimny
We start with the smallest of all, the Suzuki Jimny. This mini-off-roader was a real sales success when Suzuki relaunched it on the market in 2018, a true 4×4 with great off-road skills and a contained price that made it very attractive to most potential buyers.
And it is that Suzuki’s SUV offers a 1.5-liter atmospheric gasoline engine with 102 HP of power and 130 Nm of torque, which is managed by a five-speed manual transmission and a permanent 4×4 drive system with reduction.
It’s small, at only 3.48 meters long, and very capable thanks to its all-terrain dimensions that include 37 degree approach angle, 49 degree departure angle and 28 degree breakover angle with a ground clearance of 210mm.
It is currently available from 21,508 euros, but to buy it you must do it as a type B industrial vehicle (N1 Van), which requires it to be owned by a self-employed person or company and that the car is subject to at least 50% economic activity. This is the only way for the brand to legally sell the Jimny in Spain due to the restrictive emission regulations.
mercedes g-class
Another of the classics in this segment is the Mercedes G-Class. Unlike the Jimny, the Mercedes model is a large 4.8-meter-long vehicle with off-road dimensions that include: an entry angle of 31 degrees, an exit angle of 30 degrees, ventral angle of 26 degrees and a ground clearance of 240 mm.
It is available with a 2.9-litre in-line six-cylinder diesel engine with 330PS of power, as well as a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol variant with 421PS. Both are offered with automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive as standard. Prices start from 143,861 euros.
Jeep Wrangler

The Jeep Wrangler is another typical in this list of the best and authentic 4×4 that you can buy before the end of the year. In this case, it is a 4.88-meter-long SUV with a five-door body that has a 35-degree approach angle, a 30-degree departure angle, and a 20-degree breakover angle, with ground clearance 242mm.
The Jeep model is only available in a plug-in hybrid version, combining a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with two electric drives and a 17 kWh battery. It develops 381 HP of power and 637 Nm of torque, is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. In addition, it certifies 45 kilometers of electric autonomy and has a DGT 0 Emissions label.
The Jeep 4×4 is available to buy from 80,850 euros.
toyota land cruiser
Neither could the Toyota Land Cruiser be missing from this list. Available with bodywork of three and five doors, the Toyota model measures between 4.39 and 4.84 meters long. Its off-road dimensions are: 31 degree entry angle, 25 degree departure angle and 22 degree breakover angle with a ground clearance of 215 mm.
The engine offer includes only a 2.8-liter inline four-cylinder turbodiesel that develops 204 horsepower. It is available with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission and with a four-wheel drive system. The prices of Toyota’s SUV par excellence start from 50,600 euros.
Land Rover Defender
Finally, the fifth model in the list of the five best and authentic 4x4s that you can buy before the end of the year is the Land Rover Defender. The new generation of the Land Rover model is available in a 3 and 5 door version, with three body lengths: 4.32, 4.75 and 5.35 meters.
Land Rover’s off-road dimensions include (5-door short body version): a 37 degree approach angle, a 40 degree departure angle and a 28 degree breakover angle with a ground clearance of 290mm.
The engine offer is very wide, with a 250 hp diesel, a 400 hp gasoline, a 525 hp supercharged 5.0-liter V8 and a 404 hp plug-in hybrid variant with 50 kilometers of electric range. All mechanical configurations include four-wheel drive and automatic transmission. Land Rover 4×4 prices start from 75,100 euros.
