A segment that will be very crowded.
The Volkswagen ID 7 will be the first model that brings electrical mechanics to the saloon format within the Volkswagen family. He has not yet revealed all his data, but he has already advanced what he will put on the table, so we know what gap in the market he intends to fill and who he will have to face: the five worst rivals of the Volkswagen ID 7.
The truth is that in terms of electric cars, SUVs continue to predominate, but little by little more medium and large sedans are appearing, so that in the coming months and years the battle here will also be very fierce.
To establish references with the German, the electric saloon has only been revealed that it will have a wheelbase of 2.96 meters, that it will use the improved MEB+ electric platform and that it will have a range of more than 700 kilometers.
Tesla Model 3
It is one of the best-selling zero emissions cars in the world and, clearly, the rival to beat in its segment. Tesla may be losing some steam in the market, due to the emergence of more and more alternatives from other manufacturers, but the Tesla Model 3 is still a bestseller.
Available from 46,200 euros, three different variants are marketed. The basic one accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and has a range of 491 km. Long Range drops sprint to 4.4 seconds and increases range to 602km. And the Performance reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.3 seconds and can travel 547 kilometers per charge.
Hyundai Ionic 6
The second model of the Hyundai Ioniq family is radically different from the previous one, a sedan with a very characteristic design with a certain retro air.
It will have a very varied range that includes two battery sizes (53 and 77.4 kWh), rear or all-wheel drive, versions with up to 325 HP of power and autonomy of up to 610 kilometers.
Child ET5
The access saloon of the Chinese brand was born as a potential anti-Tesla Model 3 and, within its aesthetic simplicity, it presents a pleasant design, with careful aerodynamics, in which the long drop of the roof stands out, which has a huge surface glazed.
It can only use a dual propulsion system with 489 hp and 700 Nm of torque, thanks to which it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, but it makes up for it with three different types of batteries.
The Standard has 75 kWh and 550 kilometers of autonomy, the Long Range has 100 kWh and 700 kilometers of range, and the Ultra Long Range has 150 kWh and exceeds 1,000 kilometers of range of action, which is a great strength compared to their rivals.
Xpeng P5
Another representative of the Chinese brands that is already available in Europe and that is committed to a very similar format, with a design without excessive fanfare but focused on aerodynamics. In Spain it has not yet been put up for sale, but in other European countries it is available from just under 50,000 euros.
It is only offered with a 211 hp and 310 Nm front-engine mechanic, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, mounts a 66 kWh capacity battery and approves a range of 465 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle.
bmw i4
Although the Volkswagen ID.7 belongs to a general brand, it is quite likely that its higher versions will enter practically premium territory for price / performance, which will face the access variants of models such as the BMW i4.
Also the first sedan of the German brand, it is available in three very different character versions. The access eDrive35 has 285 hp, is rear-wheel drive, mounts a 66 kWh battery (net) and approves a range of 418 kilometers.
The intermediate is the eDrive40, with 340 hp, rear-wheel drive, 80.7 kWh battery and 590 kilometers of range. The top version is the i4 M50, which was the first electric BMW M and uses a configuration of two motors, all-wheel drive, develops 544 hp, uses the same battery and has a range of 510 kilometers.
