A few weeks ago, at its annual press conference, Porsche announced the arrival of a new SUV in its range, a model that will be at the top of it, above the Porsche Cayenne, and that will also be fully electric. Its code name, which is not known if it will reach the production model, is Porsche K1, and new details have been leaked.
The Auto Motor und Sport medium has had access to information about the great SUV and all the rumor mill has already started.
On a technical level, it seems that the K1 will be developed on the SSP platform of the Volkswagen Group, the most advanced electrical platform it has, since it enjoys 900 volt technology and allows fast charging in which 80% is filled in just 15 minutes. of battery capacity.
The SUV would use a dual engine configuration with a continuous power of 650 CV that at specific moments could go up to 1,000 CV. To this would be added a single-speed gearbox and the presence of mechanical differentials.
In addition, in order to improve its off-road capacity, although there is no intention of it being a true SUV, it would have air suspension that would allow it to vary its ground clearance to improve its off-road angles.
Another aspect in which the Porsche will be interesting is at the design level, since it seems that it will have a format halfway between a crossover and a sedan.
According to Auto Motor und Sport, the model has been shown, in sketch form, to some American dealers and could be seen to feature a “short hood, steep windshield, sloped roof and flat rear design.”
Of course, we will have to wait to see the Porsche K1 live since it will be the last electric SUV that will be launched in the present decade. Before that, it will be the turn of the zero-emission Porsche Macan, scheduled for 2024, and then it will be the turn of the Cayenne, which should arrive after 2026.
