After many months of waiting, Microsoft has begun to give some details about the basic requirements that the system will need for computers to receive the “PC with AI” label. We tell you which are the main ones.

The concept of PC with Artificial Intelligence It has been buzzing around the technology community for many months. Companies like Intel, Microsoft or Qualcomm, among many others, they have been offering their users small pills that anticipated great advances in the performance that we will be able to expect from our teams in recent years. All of this supported by the possibilities offered by AI.

Although there is still much to know, Intel has been one of the first companies to begin sharing some of the basic requirements that the system will need for manufacturers to receive this label. One of the main ones is the need to include a specific key to summon Copilot. A characteristic that was already seen in the recent presentations of the Surface Pro 10 and the Surface Laptop 6.

Artificial Intelligence as a claim

Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that, over the next few months, users would need to familiarize themselves with the new key dedicated to Copilot that was going to be incorporated into Windows computers. The statements by Intel collected by The Verge seem to indicate that this key will not be visible on all computers, only on those that wish to belong to the “PC with AI” category. So we may still see many releases without this dedicated physical shortcut.

The redmond company wants manufacturers to take both hardware and software into account when promoting their devices with Artificial Intelligence. Therefore, in addition to the aforementioned key, they must also include systems with neural processing units (NPU), the most advanced CPUs and GPUs, and also have access to Copilot.

Unknowns to clear up

As we have already anticipated, the Intel statements They have been the first that have allowed us to know a little more about the requirements that will be necessary to consider a computer as a PC with AI. However, it is still unknown what benefits manufacturers will be able to enjoy by including the dedicated Copilot key, for example. Since, at the moment, the only computers that we can find on the market that already include this new feature are Microsoft’s own, which were presented just a few days ago.

Intel has also taken the opportunity to inform that it wants to reinforce activities with windows developers to accelerate the learning process of everything that can be done with Artificial Intelligence. The objective pursued by the company is, in addition to encouraging developers, to try to ensure that as little time as possible passes between the time the first computers begin to reach the market and users begin to fully exploit all the possibilities that it is expected to offer us. the incorporation of this new technology.
