VoWiFi technology can substantially improve the quality of our calls and make us not depend on the saturation status of a telephone antenna, instead using a wireless Internet connection for this. If you are from Vodafone and you have doubts about whether you can activate this service, we will tell you.
The most contemporary models already include compatibility with VoWiFi (and VoLTE), but not in all cases, so it is better that you clear up doubts about whether your model is already supported by the red operator or not.
VoWiFi on Vodafone
Since last July 2023, Vodafone Spain customers can enjoy VoLTE and VoWiFi services to make and receive high-quality calls through a 4G or WiFi mobile network. In this way, users of the red operator are lucky to enjoy better call quality at all times.
Focusing on VoWiFi, or voice over WiFi, it makes use of wireless connections so that customers can talk without interruptions. A convenient and quick way to resolve possible problems with this basic service with the means available to you and without saturation of the network that has traditionally been used to make calls. It is a very interesting measure if you are at home, in the office or anywhere with a fairly stable wireless Internet connection.
To enjoy both services, customers must have Vodafone’s VoLTE service activated on their lines. Users can activate it as follows:
- Make sure you have updated your mobile with the latest version available.
- Check that no network (2G, 3G, 4G or 5G) is activated by default and that it is set to the ‘automatic’ option.
- Next, depending on the operating system of your smartphone, you will have to follow these steps:
- On Android: go to ‘Settings’ and select ‘Connections/Mobile Networks’. Within this section, you just have to select the ‘5G/4G/3G/2G Network Mode (automatic connection)’.
- On iPhone: go to the ‘Settings’ app and tap on ‘Mobile Data’. Within ‘Options’ you must enter ‘Voice and Data’ and directly select ‘VoLTE’.
For models lower than iPhone 12, it will also be necessary for both the ‘4G’ and ‘VoLTE’ sections to be selected in ‘Voice and Data’.
Is your smartphone compatible?
This service, no matter how much the previous steps are followed, is not universal for all types of devices. The red operator is gradually expanding the list of compatible terminals. If you have one of the cutting-edge models, surely you don’t even need to consult the list, but as the age of your smartphone grows, you may have doubts.
If you have an Apple device, you can activate this tool for free, although this requires that you have at least iOS 16.4 installed. Otherwise, they will not be able to use this Vodafone Voice over WiFi service. Among the iPhone models, we find that it is available from the iPhone 8 to the iPhone 15 model in the standard, Plus and Pro variants.
In addition, Vodafone Spain has also announced that customers can activate this service on some Apple Watch models, such as the Series 9 or the Apple Watch Ultra 2.
We also find a long list of compatible Android devices. So we also find the latest mobile phones launched by brands such as Xiaomi, Samsung, Huawei, ZTE, among others.
For example, at Xiaomi we have some of those phones that always tend to be among the best sellers, such as Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro, Redmi Note 12 (also in Pro and Pro+ variant), Xiaomi 13 (also 13 Lite and 13 Pro) or Xiaomi 12 Pro. As for Samsung, we find that there are more than 150 compatible models, including of course the Samsung Galaxy S23 range with the basic model, the S23+ and the Galaxy S23 Ultra. As for Google terminals, at the moment there is no trace of the Pixel 7, which draws attention.
