If you are looking for a job as a VTC driver you must meet the following requirements

They have to know how to drive, that’s for sure. In addition, it is recommended that they like to spend hours behind the wheel and have ease of dealing with the public. But, beyond the obvious, do you know what requirements Uber and Cabify drivers must meet?

Being a driver of a VTC vehicle (Transport Vehicle with Driver) is one of the jobs with the highest offer today. The candidates are also numerous, among other reasons, because the companies that are looking for drivers are not too demanding with their requirements.

VTC driver

With being a driver of a vehicle with a VTC license there is a bit of confusion. There is talk of Uber, Cabify or Bolt drivers (the third-oldest application but which is gaining followers every day due to its discounts) but, in reality, these platforms are not the ones who hire them.

When you find a VTC driver job offer on a job portal, Cabify or Uber is not claiming you, but rather the company that owns the license which, in turn, provides a service through one or more of the platforms that users use to hire the services. In Spain there are two benchmarks, Auro and Vecttor, and many other smaller ones.

Requirements to be a VTC driver

A few days ago we contacted Vecttor to find out what conditions their drivers work in. From our conversation with Miguel Ángel Toledo, CEO of the company, we discovered not only how much money they can earn (if you’re curious, click the link), but also what requirements their workers must meet.

The requirements that Vecttor imposes as non-negotiable to obtain a place in its fleet of drivers are very similar to those requested by other companies:

  • Be of legal age and have a class B driver’s license for at least two years
  • Have a minimum of eight points on the permit
  • Fluent in Spanish (a second language, especially English, adds points but is not essential)

Vecttor also assesses that the candidate has people skills and performs a driving test to ensure that the applicant’s driving habits are appropriate. This is a differentiating note since not all VTC companies require their workers to pass a test of this type.

It is also very possible that the company that is looking for drivers will ask the applicants to present a criminal record certificate.
