Memories full of photos of your ex
Looking back is a useful way to reflect on events in your life. The Photos app on your iPhone or iPad uses artificial intelligence to make a selection of photos and videos that match a specific event or place, and automatically plays them for you with some background music.
In your Memories you can easily find your holiday snapshots, but possibly also photos of your ex or another person you no longer want to see. If you don’t want that, this is a good time to hide photos of this person from Memories. The following steps of course also work if you no longer want to encounter other people in Retrospective.
This is how you hide photos of your ex from Memories
First of all, you need to find a photo of your ex (or another person) in the camera roll of your iPhone or iPad. Then swipe up to reveal the metadata. Here you will not only find information about the date, location and camera settings of the photo; At the bottom left of the photo itself you should see a small circle with the person in question depicted on it.
Tap this circle and a menu will appear. Tap Feature this person less and then select Never feature this person again to ensure that photos of this person no longer appear in Memories. If you choose Feature this person less, no individual photos of your ex will be shown, but group photos showing your ex will still be shown.
These institutions do not provide 100% certainty that you will never be confronted with your ex again. Although the AI usually does its job well, it can sometimes happen that your ex is not recognized as the same person in some photos. This way you will be reminded of your break-up a lot less often, and if you’re lucky, for good!
