The panorama of audiovisual companies is undergoing very profound changes, after a series of acquisitions that occur between corporations to capture the attention of consumers and further tighten the competition. This is the case of one of the best-known pay channels in Spain, which from now on will change its name under the Disney label and will have a substantial new facelift sooner than we think.
We now officially know what date the new television service that will rebrand one of the most reputable pay channels, with a history of more than 20 years in Spain, the FOX channel, will arrive in Spain. This movement was already known to be launched from the end of 2022 and beginning of 2023, after having registered the new brand in Spain that will replace this well-known service and, nothing more and nothing less, than from the hand of Disney.
Star Channel arrives in Spain
Following the purchase of 21st Century Fox by Disney, the FOX linear channel, as we have known and enjoyed it by many Spaniards until now, will become Star Channel starting next March 11. With this move, The Walt Disney Company Spain inaugurates a new visual identity, which is currently available on several operators, such as Movistar Plus+, Orange and Vodafone.
«With the rebranding of FOX to STAR Channel, we will continue to offer viewers’ favorite series and movies. STAR Channel will continue to be the home of the highest-grossing entertainment, with top stars from the largest Studios in the world,” commented Simón Amselem, CEO of The Walt Disney Company for Spain and Portugal.
No changes to programming
However, the famous mouse company has highlighted that Star Channel will continue to be the home of entertainment with the best action, drama and comedy series from the main studios worldwide, including such renowned series as The Simpsons, 911, NCIS Hawaii, FBI: Most Wanted, and other news.
This is the turning point for The Walt Disney Company to guarantee that the programming will not involve the loss or renewal of all its content, but will remain current for all viewers once the name change has been made. Likewise, it cannot be ruled out that new productions will be incorporated in the future to take advantage of this service and develop higher caliber proposals.
According to the company, Star Channel will have a brilliant new graphic line with the same distribution, series and movies that the FOX channel currently has on the operators’ schedules. In turn, Disney Spain indicates that the rebranding of Star Channel is born from the STAR brand, which is present in the Disney+ streaming service, with a large number of exclusive series and movies on its schedule, along with Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic.
