After the blackout of DTT as we have known it until now, we already have assigned to all television stations in Spain the new frequencies that mention the approval of the National Technical Plan for Digital Terrestrial Television during the beginning of the previous period. As of February 14, all networks must broadcast in High Definition, but RTVE has gone one step further by offering the second channel in UHD.
Spanish Radio Television wanted to be a pioneer in the premiere of the first DTT channel in Ultra High Definition of the entire conglomerate of channels that we have at our disposal with La 1 UHD, covering the entire national territory, and now broadcast tests are being carried out of its second channel in the same quality, TVE 2 UHD. At the moment, they are the only two channels that are currently broadcasting in the highest resolution available, but the public channel could end up adding its entire repertoire in a matter of days: 24h, Teledeporte, Clan.
TVE 2 UHD arrives, with nuances
Although RTVE wants to finish implementing all its channels in the highest quality format possible, there is still a long way to go, since the standard format, High Definition (HD), has just been established, which has only recently been introduced. days in all Spanish homes. However, the public company has been handling the possibilities of introducing its main channels in UHD for some time, specifically last year, since tests began with the broadcast of the Women’s World Cup in 4K in the summer of 2023.
In this way, we wanted to take another leap to regular UHD broadcasts to achieve the commitment to provide the best service to citizens for greater enjoyment of all free-to-air television offerings, as well as major sports competitions, movies and series. with quality content. For example, starting this summer, the upcoming Paris Olympic Games can be seen in UHD for the first time.
However, it should be noted that TVE 2 UHD is not currently offering its original broadcast, as its main network does, but rather its content revolves around the sports broadcast offered by Teledeporte, according to the Ministry for Digital Transformation. , and other types of programming that are constantly repeated. On the other hand, it is also important to take into account one of the great incentives offered by this type of Ultra High Definition channels, with immersive Dolby Atmos and High Dynamic Range (HDR) audio quality.
How to tune in to the new UHD channels?
First of all, it must be added that in order to enjoy the new format in UHD it is essential to take into account the following requirements:
- A 4K Smart TV (3,840 × 2,160).
- DVB-T2 and HEVC DTT antenna decoder, better known as H.265.
- HDR compatible Smart TV.
Therefore, once we have a television with the highlighted characteristics in our possession, it is necessary to retune your channels to add the exact frequency. To do this, press the Menu button on your remote and go to the option that says Broadcasting, Tuning or Settings. Next, you must select Auto Tuning with Digital Search Preference and wait for the channel tuning to complete.
