In the video that illustrates this article you will be able to see how this 1,020 CV Tesla Model S Plaid reaches its maximum speed on an unlimited stretch of the Autobahn.
There’s one thing you can’t deny about electric cars: their acceleration is truly spectacular, and very few cars, including supercars, offer these levels of performance. You will find an example of this in the video that accompanies this article, in which you can see how this 1,020 CV Tesla Model S Plaid reaches its maximum speed on the German Autobahn.
The YouTube channel AutoTopNL usually performs this type of acceleration and top speed tests with all kinds of cars on sections of the famous Autobahn with no speed limits. And on this occasion, the protagonist has been the most powerful and fastest version of the Tesla Model S, an electric saloon that offers an impressive power of 1,020 hp with more than 1,200 Nm of torque.
This is how the 1,020 CV Tesla Model S Plaid reaches its maximum speed on the Autobahn
As announced by Tesla, the Model S Plaid needs just 2.1 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h. However, this figure is not the only thing that is truly impressive about this electric sedan, since its acceleration capacity takes it to “get on top” as quickly as a hypercar.
To achieve this, the Model S Plaid is equipped with a propulsion system made up of three engines that generate a combined power of 1,020 hp and configure a four-wheel drive system. The power comes from a lithium-ion battery with 100 kWh of energy capacity that allows it to homologate up to 600 kilometers on a single charge.
Elon Musk’s company also says that its theoretical top speed is 322 km/h, although in the video it clearly tops out at 267 km/h (about 262 km/h according to GPS measurement by AutoTopNL).
Away from top speed, what really impresses is that it can go from 0 to 267 km/h in around 14 seconds, and from 90 km/h to around 220 km/h in just 6 seconds. All this, in an atmosphere of silence that is truly disconcerting if you have never traveled on board an electric car.
