The new Competiton Plus versions of the Audi RS 4 Avant and the RS 5 Coupé and Sportback not only add an exclusive design, but also a chassis configuration typical of a racing car. We tell you all the details in this video.
This video test of the Audi RS 4 S Avant and RS 5 Coupé and Sportback in its new Competition Plus version has taken place at the Ascari circuit (Málaga) and in it we will tell you not only about the design innovations introduced by this model, but also what much that you can configure the chassis to improve its behavior.
We start talking about the aesthetic section, a section that has changed compared to the Audi RS 4 or RS 5 series, but that is not key either. It mounts many elements of black color, carbon fiber package in certain parts, such as rear-view mirrors and side skirts, as well as LED matrix headlights.
The 20-inch wheels are also new and you can optionally mount Pirelli PZero Corsa tires, which improve their behavior on the circuit.
The passenger compartment also has some details typical of this Competiton Plus variant, such as the seats with glossy black sides or the upholstery in Dinamica fabric, which is made of 45% recycled plastics from the sea.
The engine is the same that the RS 4 and RS 5 carry, that is, a 2.9-liter V6 biturbo with 450 hp, although in this case the central unit has been modified so that the transmission makes jumps between gears more rapid.
Power is also sent to all four wheels here, but extensive work has been done so that the quattro differential achieves optimum power distribution in all circumstances. And it is something that we have been able to verify, since we have carried out this circuit test on wet asphalt, as you can see in the video.
The response of the sports steering has also been modified, but, above all, they have chosen to improve the chassis. For this, the great novelty is the manually adjustable suspension, something that is usually only possible in competition cars.
Specifically, on the front axle you can adjust the rebound and compression hardness with dials that the customer himself modifies using a tool kit that Audi provides when buying this car. The rear is also adjustable, but only the rebound. And, without forgetting, that it mounts a reinforcement bar of the suspension of greater size.
How much do these new Audi RS 4 S Avant and RS 5 Coupé and Sportback Competition Plus cost? 125,560 euros and 129,630 euros, respectively, which represents an increase over the models on which they are based of 20,000 euros.
