The Iwata brand launched its current superbike model in 2015. In 2020 it underwent an update taking advantage of the move to Euro5… But, in view of the bikes presented to race in the International Motorcycling Federation, it is likely that a renewed Yamaha YZF- R1 2023 is on its way. A bike that may have something to do with the one we recently anticipated at Solomoto.es, and in which we dreamed of the presence of a “Seamless” gear change like the ones in MotoGP.

In the list of approved competition motorcycles for 2023, a Yamaha YZF1000W stands out, which was registered on June 9. For those who don’t know, the YZF1000W nomenclature is Yamaha’s internal designation for the YZF-R1.

You can also see the YZF600W, which is the racing version of the YZF-R6, as it is not sold already registered, which suggests that the W could refer to a use only in competition.

However, the FIM spreadsheet also refers to the characteristics of the engine, four-cylinder and 998 cc The same characteristics of the road R1.

Analyzing all the characters of the model identification code, or VIN code (JYACN07C), the truth is that a definitive conclusion about the orientation of the model cannot be drawn. That is, if it is for street and circuit, or only for circuit. But we always have to bear in mind that the calculation sheets of the International Motorcycling Federation only include models intended for exclusive use on the track.

Whether or not there is a new Yamaha YZF-R1 2023, we probably won’t know until autumn, with the celebration of the EICMA in Milan.
