More common situation than it seems.
What to do before a “chinazo” in the windshield of the car? The RAE defines this word as “hit with a china”, referring to what is known as a small stone. Drivers know exactly what it is, because more than once we have seen how they hit the windshield of the car, first frightening us because of the noise and then worrying about the damage it may have caused.
And what to do? First, we will analyze what damage has been caused. In most cases the moon will remain intact, not being the case in the rest of the time. You do not have to have managed to break the windshield, as a small fracture can become a major damage in the future. And precisely, what we want to avoid are risks or having to change the entire protective element later.
A new windscreen can cost between 200 and 450 euros, while a glass specialist can repair it in no time at a cost of 60 euros. Of course, we must go to specialists, since it is an element of the utmost importance in our vehicle. The process usually takes about half an hour, an hour and a half less than replacing the entire moon. This element is no longer fitted, but glued, and after installing it, the vehicle should not be moved for an hour.
But what if the moon has broken? The first thing you should do is check your insurance, does it cover the replacement of windows? Not all of them do it, of course not, being a plus that is added in third-party insurance. The vast majority usually include it in their insurance, but you should make sure beforehand to contact them and proceed with the change.
Of course, do not forget that the replacement of the moon can have a negative impact on the bonus that your company gives you. It will not be worth explaining that it was due to a stone that has jumped on your windshield, it will not matter. Similarly, some companies only ensure the payment of the operation up to a money limit. Be that as it may, you will have to pay all your attention to it, because you should not circulate with any damage to this element.
