If today you receive a call from an unknown number, since the entry into force of the regulations that reduce the chances of it being commercial, the chances that instead of spam it is actually a scam have increased. That same thing is happening lately with 911172839.

We are going to tell you about the dangers of receiving a call from 911172839 and why you should not provide any personal information and instead block this number.

The dangerous phone number 911172839

The case of 911172839 is one of the most serious we have seen in terms of impersonation, especially from telecommunications operators (although there is also a lower percentage of reports posing as energy companies). Entering specialized pages to check and identify who is behind a call, such as ListaSpam, we can see that they impersonate practically all operators, including the main ones (Movistar, Orange, Vodafone, Yoigo) and even other minor ones such as Euskaltel.

These are some of the reports against this fraudulent number.

«They call and it is heard as if the person were calling walking down the street, because you could hear the air hitting the microphone. He says it’s from the phone or WiFi company, I told him I’m not interested very quickly, because my company never calls me, let alone walking down the street. It is clear that it is not a legitimate call, I really do not know what they are looking for, I think they are scams that seek to record a “yes” for you, I never say yes on the phone when I speak to a stranger.

«After several calls to the landline I have decided to answer and they tell me that they are from Orange to check if the service works correctly because they are receiving many calls due to fiber failures in my area. To begin with, I do not have an Orange contract. They must be beginners because the companies have their own systems to check if there is service in an area or not. I highly doubt they call house to house. In addition to commenting on the latter, I told him to please stop bothering and lying and he said goodbye without any further problem.

«It is a call from ‘robaclientes’. They tell you that they call you from your telephone company, simply ask which one, they make it up, and maybe they are right. They mix it up with the power company. They are scammers. Great care. If you ask them for their name and that you’re going to check with your company for security, then they hang up.”

«Whoever says he is Carlos calls to improve my fiber and asks if I am the owner, I tell him I am not interested and hang up. He does not say which company or reveal any other information about who or who they are. From the tone it sounds like a scam. I have blocked it.”

SPAM calls«He says that they are Euskaltel and that I am the owner. I don’t even have Euskaltel. Locked”

“Careful! They call saying that they are calling from your company’s central office and they call to see how the coverage and Internet service is going. He tells me that he is from Movistar, I tell him that he is wrong that this is not my company and they hang up. It’s all very strange.”

“They have called me saying that they are from Vodafone and that they are conducting surveys to see if customers are satisfied with all the service they have contracted.”

«Yesterday they called me from this phone saying they were from my company, Orange, arguing that they had to raise me 20 euros per month, but that I had the option collected by the OCU to change to another company without incurring permanence expenses. Vodafone called me 5 minutes later. It is a scam to provide data and change the telephone company. Don’t give them any information.”

«They just called me as if they were from my Yoigo phone company. Asking for information from the account holder, claiming that they would raise our mobile rates. By the way they spoke and the little information they wanted to give, 100% scam.

Another number to report and block

Since July 1, 2023, Spanish legislation recognizes the right of a person not to receive unwanted commercial calls, limiting them to those who have given their prior consent. However, these commercial calls are really fraudulent and therefore do not respect these terms, so it is better to cut your losses.

Enter the call list, open the options panel and block the number.
