Among the many programs that are part of our computer, solutions such as Word and Excel are considered almost indispensable. Hence, errors that may appear in their operation become a serious problem in most cases.

Recently, many users have reported some errors in these applications that crashed while using them. Specifically, when writing content in the text editor or the spreadsheet program, among others, the applications themselves would freeze. This is an error that could be considered unacceptable, so Microsoft has already started to work on it.

And now we can say that the software giant has finally fixed the known issue here. This causes some Microsoft 365 applications, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and OneNote, to crash when typing or spell checking a text. This is a major annoyance for both end users and businesses. Keep in mind that the crashes affect users of Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and OneNote in Microsoft 365. Specifically, in version 2407 or higher.

This is something that is evident in the operating system’s event viewer, where the aforementioned error is reflected, so the company has had to fix it urgently. In fact, the company explains that this blocking problem is triggered by the version difference between the Office 2016 correction tools and the installed language packs. All this when the aforementioned language pack is not updated to the latest version available.

How to fix crashes in Microsoft 365

These patching tools, the company says, are either leftovers from previous installations or part of the Office suite migration. The coexistence of Office 2016 alongside Microsoft 365 applications is not supported. They use different technologies to install the same version, hence the crashes that occur.

What’s more, the error will vary depending on the language packs that we have installed at that time on the Windows PC. Sometimes the crash is caused by the mscss7it.dll library, or mscss7de.dll, and others. But we should not worry anymore, Microsoft has already solved this problem once it was known and identified.

To fix this, you just need to update your Microsoft 365 office suite to the latest version. However, to avoid similar problems in the future, the company recommends that users uninstall the Office 2016 testing tools. Office language packs will also be updated automatically.

However, if the error continues to occur when using office applications and they freeze when typing, we will have to repair the suite. All this means that we will have to uninstall and reinstall the language pack.

But the most normal thing is that once we update the Microsoft 365 suite, all the errors related to crashes in the mentioned programs disappear.
