The presentation of the iPhone 16 was the starting shot for Apple’s new features. Although the apple brand had already talked about iOS 18 at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), its annual conference for developers, it was this week when it officially launched its major update to the operating system for 2024. Now, the beta version of iOS 18.1 is available, with the artificial intelligence features that many were eagerly awaiting.

Apple Intelligence has been the big surprise for the American company this year. At the end of July, they launched a preliminary version of the AI innovations they would bring, but it was intended for developers. iPhone users were eager to try out the features and can finally start using them with the latest public and free beta they have released.

There were already rumors that Apple AI would not be arriving with the release of iOS 18. We have been saying for some time that we would have to wait for other minor updates later. With the arrival of version 18, we have seen many changes in the interface, but there was no sign of Apple Intelligence. At last, users who install beta 18.1 on their iPhones will be able to access intelligent features.

Apple Intelligence ios 18.1

It should be noted that Apple Intelligence will not be compatible with all smartphones that still have updates from the technology firm. Initially, only iPhones with the A17 Pro processor onwards are powerful enough to support the Apple brand’s artificial intelligence. This means that, of the models from previous years, only the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will be compatible with this technology.

How to install iOS 18.1 beta?

If you’re interested in trying out Apple’s smart new features for its smartphones, it’s as easy as installing the iOS 18.1 public beta. It’s worth noting that it’s still in the testing phase, so it might have some bugs. But if that doesn’t matter to you, just follow the steps below.

First, you should back up your iPhone. Since betas sometimes cause problems, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to sign up with your Apple account at beta.apple.com to join the Apple Beta Software Program. If you’re someone who can’t wait for official releases and have installed betas before, you may be able to sign in right away.

Next, go to the iPhone Settings and access the General section to go to the Software Update section. These steps are the same as those you must follow for an official Apple update, so you probably already know the way to go. As you are part of the beta program, you should be given the option to download versions of this type.

iOS 18.1 Beta Update

What you need to do is go to Beta Updates and tap on iOS 18 Public Beta. Then, tap on the Back button. This way, you will see that on the iPhone screen you are given the option to update to the iOS 18.1 Beta operating system with a text in English. In it, they inform you that this version provides the Apple Intelligence functions, but that these are only available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

They also point out that they are not yet enabled for the European Union or China. Unless you live outside of Spain and in a country outside the EU (other than China) or you use a VPN, you will still have to wait to enjoy the artificial intelligence of the Apple brand.
