One of the most charismatic motorcycles in movie history is the GPz from Top Gun, and it seems that in the year of its 40th anniversary it will return in the form of a Kawasaki GPz900RS Ninja…
Next year it will be 40 years since Kawasaki launched its mythical Ninja 900, the motorcycle that would define the concept of Japanese engines.
And it is that this GPz900R Ninja equipped the most modern engine of that time, a four-cylinder transverse inline 4T cycle, already equipped with liquid cooling, with 16 valves and double overhead camshaft, DOHC, with 115 CV, the most powerful of the moment.
In addition, the timing chain was mounted on the left side, not between cylinders 2 and 3, another modern detail that no other motorcycle was equipped with.
And let’s not forget its aesthetics, with a rectangular headlight embedded in a very tight integral fairing, and which would be another of its hallmarks.
The 2024 Kawasaki GPz900RS promises to be a great remake of the first Ninja 900
Well, take all this and mix it right up with a Kawasaki Z 900 RS, and the result is an explosive and brutal Kawasaki GPz900RS Ninja, Top Gun’s bike in the year 2024.
If we look at the technical specifications of the modern neo retro RS, we will see that its four-cylinder in-line transverse engine -4T, LC, 16V, DOHC, IE- delivers excellent 111 CV with plenty of torque, so there will be no need to fear due to lack of CV.
Double 300mm front brake discs with radial mount calipers, traction control, power modes and top-notch suspension, portend the best retro Ninja ever.
Let’s hope they also copy the style of its instrumentation, with a couple of asymmetrical analog spheres and a third smaller one for other purposes.
Modernity doesn’t have to be at odds with retro, so let’s hope that this rumor, spread by our Japanese colleagues at Young Machine magazine, is a reality by the end of this year.
The 2024 Kawasaki GPz900RS Ninja promises to be a real bomb. We will look forward to…
