The two-time Dakar Rally champion will undergo surgery.
The pilot Nani Roma has announced through his Instagram account that they have detected a tumor in his bladder that will force him to start treatment and undergo surgery. The two-time Dakar Rally champion, winner in the car and motorcycle categories, maintains a positive attitude and is already thinking about returning to the Dakar with his team, BRX.
“In this video I tell you that I have been diagnosed with cancer, but that it is treatable and the prognosis is good. I am well and encouraged, knowing that after facing many challenges, now I must focus on the most important of them all!” , Roma admits on Instagram.

Roma felt severe pain in her back and went to the hospital for a check-up. In the tests that were carried out, she was detected a tumor in her initial phases. The 50-year-old Catalan will undergo surgery and will begin chemotherapy treatment, which will last for two months, at the Vall d’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona.
As you can see in the video, Nani maintains a positive attitude and is already thinking of returning to competition as soon as possible. In fact, she already has a rehabilitation plan prepared at the Sant Cugat High Performance Center.
Nani has been advised by Xavier Mir, the usual doctor for MotoGP riders, who, although he is an orthopedic surgeon, has coordinated with Nani the steps to follow to be in the best hands and return at full strength as soon as the illness allows it.
The Catalan, winner of the 2004 Dakar Rally (Motorcycles) and 2014 (Cars) is one of the legends of the toughest rally in the world, one of the drivers to follow in each edition. In the last two years, Nani has competed in the rally with the BRX team, managed by Prodrive, and since 2021 he has teamed up with Sébastien Loeb.
