In two months, Correos has sold almost the same stickers as in all of 2022
Do you remember that a few days ago we warned you that you could not buy the environmental sticker on their website? Now we understand why, and it is that according to the organization, in just two months Correos has sold more than 600,000 DGT labels, an outrage that translates into more than 3,000,000 euros.
If the amount seems exorbitant to you, wait we have to make a nuance. The three million euros are assuming that all the environmental badges have been purchased in physical offices where they are sold for 5 euros; but it is certain that a high percentage will have been purchased through the web, which means a price increase of 3.5 euros for shipping costs.
600,000 DGT labels in two months
The data provided by Correos indicates that between January and February 2023 it processed the sale of a total of 592,259 environmental stickers. The figure represents a notable increase compared to 2022, since 745,763 labels were sold in physical offices and over the Internet throughout the year. Much more if purchased with the number of 2021: 304,739 stickers.
“With the entry into force in 2023 of the Low Emission Zones (ZBE) in towns with more than 50,000 inhabitants, the demand for these labels through the Post Office has grown a lot,” official sources say. Which also reveal that the increase has been especially prominent in the provinces of Valencia, Alicante, Murcia, Zaragoza, Santander, Vizcaya and Guipuzcoa.
From Correos they explain that there has also been a rise in requests in rural areas. In this sense, they recall that they have a staff of 6,000 postmen and rural wallets that provide badges to people residing in small municipalities to avoid having to travel.
The four labels that currently classify vehicles based on their polluting emissions can be purchased on the Correos website and at physical offices. What the Post Office has not revealed is which is the sticker (Zero Emissions, ECO, C or B) that accumulates the most requests.
