At the end of November, many Digi customers were surprised to see how their phones indicated that they had a 5G connection. Specifically, it occurred since Monday, November 27. However, hours later, the clients themselves reported again that they began to lose this coverage. So why don’t all customers have 5G?
There is no doubt that Digi is one of the operators of the moment in our country. In fact, it is the OMV that, as the months go by, steals more customers from rivals such as Movistar, Vodafone, Orange, etc. This is especially due to its low prices, although one of the drawbacks it has is that it does not offer 5G. Although this is about to change.
This fifth generation mobile coverage is already in Digi, although not officially. And all because the Romanian operator has not yet made this connection official for its customers’ mobile lines. Although many clients report that they have already been able to enjoy this connection. But, it is true that it is not available to everyone and there is a reason for this.
Digi 5G in testing
More than 2 years after the activation of 5G in Movistar, Digi customers who enjoy the Spanish operator’s mobile network have already been able to try out on their mobile phones what it is like to browse the Internet at maximum speed. Although, we must keep in mind that it is not for everyone and, not only this, but it has been available for a short time.
To begin with, Digi’s 5G is not official, since the operator has not released any statement in which it comments on this important development. It must be remembered that the last big announcement was the eSIM for its customers. So there is no choice but to wait. For example, we learned about the news of 5G after users of the Romanian operator contacted us to tell us about this news.
In any case, since it is not official, it must be clear that this mobile connection is still in the testing phase by the operator. Hence, not all customers have been able to enjoy this mobile coverage on their smartphones. For this reason, many users have reported again that on different lines they have been able to connect to 5G again since this morning, but that, on the other hand, in other locations where they had this same coverage on November 27, today they don’t have it. And this is because Digi is testing, nothing more.
Check your mobile settings
You don’t have to change your SIM or ask the company for anything, you just need to take a look at the mobile settings in case you don’t have the option to search for 5G networks. Of course, your smartphone has to be compatible. If it is, then go to the phone settings:
- On iOS: go to the Settings app > Mobile data > Options > Voice & data > select Automatic 5G.
- On Android: Go to Settings > SIM card/Network and Internet > Mobile network > Preferred network type > select 5G.
If you have correctly configured your mobile settings so that it connects to Digi’s 5G network but the coverage does not change, then you have to continue waiting for it to be officially activated for everyone. Something that is expected in the coming weeks. And all because it is only providing this service in trial mode.
