With the Euro 2024 and Copa América 2024 finals just around the corner, piracy has not stopped growing in different parts of the world. Although these matches are openly broadcast in many countries, there are other countries where you have to pay to watch these competitions. On this occasion, anti-piracy measures have managed to block two well-known websites: Fútbol Libre and Megadeportes.
It is not only LaLiga that is constantly fighting to stop illegal broadcasts of its competitions in Spain, there are also other countries such as Argentina that are taking action against pirate football. That is why these two websites with football broadcasts have now been blocked after the closure of more than 50 domains related to these pages. In addition, the creator of Megadeportes himself has been arrested.
New fight against piracy
This latest investigation has nothing to do with pirate IPTV, but rather with two websites that were used to watch football broadcasts. It all started with a complaint filed by the Alliance Against Audiovisual Piracy. It is based on its ongoing fight against online piracy carried out by the different companies that have the rights to these broadcasts.
The sites blocked by the Argentine courts are responsible for offering different sporting events through completely free streaming channels for users. Therefore, based on the evidence collected, the court decided to order the blocking of more than 50 Fútbol Libre and Megadeportes sites.
Inside the home of the detainee, the creator of Megadeportes, pen drives, a PC and other items were found containing information on the administration of these pirate channels for illegally reproducing content. They even found data on various money movements that have been obtained thanks to the advertising of these websites. Therefore, the detainee is accused of violating the right to intellectual property.
More than 50 domains blocked
The accused in question used the pseudonym ‘Kahsad’. In addition, investigators are clear that he was directly linked to piracy that occurred through the more than 50 domains that have now been blocked from Fútbol Libre and Megadeportes. It must be taken into account that the Fútbol Libre platform was an illegal streaming option to watch sporting events that was considered the most popular in the region. In any case, the investigation identified, through the website ‘www.kahsadtvonline.blogspot.com’, that illegal access was given to a multitude of sports content with different links, including those of Fútbol Libre.
This latest operation is therefore also a major blow against pirate football or illegal IPTV services that are available all over the world. The problem with these types of pirate services is that they often become the best opportunity for cybercriminals to steal and defraud many users, as they become very easy targets, since all they want is to watch a particular sport.
