The end of copper technology is good news for our country. However, like all good news, it has some collateral damage that can affect customers in one way or another. For example, conventional telephone lines are coming to an end, making it necessary to migrate to new technologies. Movistar launched Línea Digital to prevent all those users, mainly older people, from losing their landline number overnight. Now, it has been updated with new prices and conditions.
There are some households that still have their traditional landline, although Telefónica is speeding up the process to finally shut down copper exchanges in our country. Once almost all affected customers have been informed, the alternatives are to change to fibre optics and have a landline with VoIP or to opt for a 4G voice box with a SIM with the landline number to be installed.
However, installing a fibre network just to have a landline is an inefficient solution. For this reason, Movistar has been offering a product known as Línea Digital for several months, which allows you to keep your landline number, have a mobile line with calls and data and have fibre at home with a speed sufficient for very basic tasks.
This is how Movistar Digital Line works
We are talking about a product that is offered in very specific cases. Its price is 19.90 euros. At first, there was another option for 25.90 euros for regulated areas, but since August 29 of this year we only have that option mentioned above for 19.90 euros per month.
This rate can be contracted by customers with these rates, unless they have Movistar+ (either by IPTV or satellite), Vacation Line, mobile contracts and extra mobile lines or Fusión and miMovistar:

The rate has no commitment and the registration fee is free. The installation of the fiber is valued at 130 euros, but the customer does not have to pay anything. The monthly fee of 19.90 euros includes:
- Individual line fee
- Internet 10 Mb/1 Mb (10 Mb non-symmetrical fiber).
- Mobile line with national calls to landlines and mobiles of any operator at any time with these conditions:
- 0 cents per minute, call setup 50 cents, SMS 30 cents and full speed browsing on a pay-per-use basis at a price of 3 cents/MB up to 4 GB. Once 4 GB is reached on a pay-per-use basis, browsing can continue at a reduced speed. A maximum amount of 10 euros is established for pay-per-use browsing.
The price of calls will be as follows:
- Calls to national landlines:
- Metropolitan and provincial: 0.1868 euros for call establishment and 0.0186 euros per minute
- Interprovincial: 0.1868 euros for call setup and 0.0897 euros per minute
- Calls to national mobiles:
- Standard rate (Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.): 0.1868 euros for call setup and 0.1595 euros per minute
- Reduced rate (other days): 0.1868 euros for call setup and 0.1245 euros per minute
