Until when? That is what some Disney+ users in Spain are wondering when they see how in the United States they are already enjoying a new feature that has generated a lot of interest. Furthermore, in North American territory it has received a new boost with more news and in our country we continue waiting, looking at American users in the distance.
When a streaming platform offers features only in certain regions we cannot say that we are very happy. Perhaps, yes, it is a trial period to check if the plan is successful and, from that moment, take it to other markets. But for now, Disney+ maintains radio silence and says nothing about it. We are talking about the Disney+ channels, which in recent months have become the juiciest part of the service in the United States.
They have confirmed their success
The first Disney+ channels arrived on the streaming platform in September. At Disney+ they wanted to see if they were successful or not and, to do so, they went all out with a good selection. The fear was whether users who think it is nonsense that there are channels with the same content that is available on demand would win or if those who love this type of service would make themselves heard. From the statistics that Disney has published, it seems that the second group has won.
They say that, since their premiere in September, there are two channels that have been a real success: Disney+ Playtime and ABC News, in which views have reached 10 million hours of streaming. They are, as you can imagine, big words. And it is to be imagined that the other channels have also obtained a similar or, at least, close level of success. In addition, they mention that they are checking how a certain level of connection is being created between Disney+ subscribers and the channels. This means that, for example, there are now many people who, upon identifying themselves on the platform, do not search for a series or a movie, but rather activate a certain channel and leave it plugged in.
New channels
Of course, Disney+ does not use the FAST name for these channels. Avoid this way of defining them because, obviously, they are not free channels. Although it would possibly be a masterstroke if they offered some of these channels for non-subscribers, the truth is that, today, they are limited to those who have an active Disney+ account.
In the month of October, the platform adds four additional channels: Hallowstream, Hits & Heroes, Throwbacks and Real Life. The company says that these are thematic channels that debut with the intention of adjusting to the calendar or specific times of the year. This, possibly, will be the best way to define Hallowstream, a channel that comes with the intention of celebrating Halloween and that may disappear in the month of November or end up changing in December for a Christmas channel. The other new channels will likely stay longer. In the case of Hits & Heroes, it is a channel that broadcasts movies from major franchises, such as Marvel, Star Wars and Disney in general. On the Throwbacks channel we enjoy nostalgic pop-type content, while Real Life offers biographies, true stories and documentaries that connect us more with society.
Will this channel service arrive in Spain? For now absolutely nothing has been said. It shouldn’t be difficult, since the content that is broadcast comes directly from the Disney+ catalog. It is possible, and it should not be ruled out, that it is ready as one of the new features that the service uses at the time of the hypothetical price increase that will occur in the future. It would, without a doubt, be an interesting way to try to retain users. For now, Disney+ subscription It is well worth it for other aspects, but the channels would be an excellent addition.
