Microsoft has thought twice and finally allows the Windows 11 operating system to be installed on computers that are not compatible. This means that, finally, many people with Windows 10 can take the leap and thus not find themselves in a complicated situation in the next year 2025.

It’s hard to understand the direction Microsoft is taking with Windows 11 in recent months. Recently, the company once again confirmed the reasons why many computers cannot be updated with Windows 11. It was not unexpected, but rather it was information that highlighted the situation and the importance of having computers enabled with TPM 2.0. But now, they turn the wheel and publish the way in which you can update to Windows 11 even if your computer is not compatible. It doesn’t make much sense, although, in general, we are happy.

With warning included

Microsoft has launched a section here from its support page where it gives instructions and instructions about updating to Windows 11 on incompatible computers. The first thing the company does is send a notice to surfers so that users understand what they are about to do. And, taking advantage of this notice, Microsoft reminds, once again, that it is not advisable to put Windows 11 on a computer that is not prepared for it. The novelty is that, now, at least it does not prevent it or take up arms against the idea of making the update.

Two friends talking while using a Windows computer

In addition to this, Microsoft says that if you have decided to install Windows 11 on an unsupported computer, you should be comfortable taking the risk of running into compatibility issues. They are almost literal words regarding what they have written and it cannot be denied that we have mixed feelings about their way of expressing themselves. We understand what they want to tell us, but it also seems that the way in which they transmit it can be greatly improved.

This happens if you update

The company makes it clear that it is not a good idea and also warns you about what will happen next. First of all, your computer will no longer be supported by Microsoft and you will not receive Windows 11 updates. In addition, they say that any damage that occurs to your PC due to lack of compatibility with Windows will not be covered by the manufacturer. They also insist that by updating under these circumstances, you will not receive security updates that can protect you from viruses or malware. That could lead to infections or even problems, crashes and other adverse effects of having installed a version of Windows that is not fully compatible.

A user working with their Windows 11 computer

Knowing all this, you may have even thought twice and don’t want to update. But if you want to update all of them, you should know that, after moving to Windows 11, a watermark will appear on the screen that you can only eliminate by making adjustments to the registry. In addition, the general process to update to Windows 11 is not very well explained either, so you will have to do it manually. Another important detail is that, if you update to Windows 11 and you regret it, perhaps because everything is working poorly or due to a lack of security, you will have 10 days to return to Windows 10.

That will put you at the starting point again and will not be the best option, but it is also fair to recognize that Microsoft, at least, covers its back by allowing you to go back to the previous version. In the event that you have updated to Windows 11 and want to go back, what you will have to do is enter System, then Recovery and finally you will have to enter Recovery Options. This way you will see the option to go back and have Windows 10 again.
