Artificial intelligence is capable of doing all sorts of tasks, but don’t add preparing vegan recipes to the list. Perhaps you can ask him to prepare you a classic hamburger, but a test carried out by specialists in the kitchen has made it clear that vegan food does not go with AI. The results are absolutely terrible.

Lately the only thing we do is come across situations in which the ChatGPT image looks bad. The artificial intelligence assistant is not giving its best effort in tasks in which it is shown that this technology has a long way to go. As we are going to tell you, this time the obstacle he has encountered is vegan food.

testing 100 recipes

Don’t expect chefs to lose their jobs soon due to the presence of AI. The World of Vegan team wanted to see how far they could trust ChatGPT to prepare vegan recipes. Therefore, they spoke to the intelligence of OpenAI in order to request recipe ideas from different categories, but agreeing that all of them had to be vegan. You were asked for recipes for complete dishes, dinner dishes or desserts.

Once ChatGPT provided them with all the recipes, the chefs wanted to put them into practice and thus find out if the AI had had a hand in defining the vegan culinary ideas it had given them. In total there were 100 recipes and, although we are talking more about it now, we can tell you that of the total there was only one recipe that provided a good result. One in a hundred, a real disaster.

They sounded good, but they tasted terrible

The positive thing about the creator of the recipes being an artificial intelligence is that he could not be offended by the comments, because some of them were dramatic. One of the chefs who has spoken about it, after trying the dishes, said that they were “hilariously pitiful”. The main problem with all the recipes, once they were put into practice, was that the results were not delicious or consistent. What the study team does highlight is that, on paper, the recipes sounded good.

However, by the time they started cooking and putting the ideas into practice, they found that there were many obvious misconceptions. For example, flavors that were opposite were mixed and that did not end up giving a good result at the moment in which they passed through the palate. There were also some cases in which the ingredients, once cooked, ended up in a terrible state, more like a deplorable dough than a dish that someone wanted to eat.

In the end, the only palatable recipe was the cauliflower tacos, which doesn’t sound bad, but probably also wouldn’t be the first thing we’d order at a vegan restaurant. The rest of the ideas included dishes like overnight bean soaks, some terrible exploding chocolate cupcakes, minestrone soup, and some embarrassing baked potato to look at.

Taking these results into account, chefs who have had the opportunity to put the AI to the test conclude that there is no doubt that ChatGPT is not a good resource for thinking up recipes for now. The robots have shown that they can be used for functions such as generating false faces or working in the restaurant sector, whether it is serving tables, distributing dishes or even cooking in simple tasks, but when it comes to creating recipes, they are not prepared. . And since artificial intelligence doesn’t improve much in its ability to connect with the needs of humans, it is most likely that it will still not be recommended to apply it in a culinary environment.
