The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez and his wife, Begoña Gómez, are at the center of the news for an alleged crime of influence peddling for endorsing companies that were bidding for public tenders. Leaving that hot topic aside, we have also been able to find out, due to a data leak from Shein, the terrible password that Shein used for its online purchases.
At the beginning of April, Clean Hands registered a complaint in the Madrid courts against Begoña Gómez, Pedro Sánchez’s wife, for an alleged crime of influence peddling. The head of the Court of Instruction number 41 of Madrid, Juan Carlos Peinado, has now accepted the complaint for processing, which could have fatal consequences for the current President of the Government.
Ainhoacrlota, a password that is not very secure or not at all secure
As if that were not enough, the controversy is not going to abandon Sánchez’s wife who was a victim, like thousands of people, of a Shein data leak. This has revealed one of the main problems of users: the low security of passwords. We all know that using birthdays, names of children or pets, or combinations like 12345, is something that we should avoid as much as possible so as not to compromise our security on the Internet.
However, Begoña Sánchez seems to be oblivious to this Internet problem. as we have been informed. We assume that the email used in the UCM Master’s Degree taught by Begoña was bego.fundraiser@gmail.com. Once we have that information, we go to pages that give us more information about an email address, in this case, “have I been pwned?” that shows us if our account has appeared in Internet data leaks.
In this case, it appears in a Shein data leak from 2018 that released the personal data of 39 million people. The compromised data included both the email address and the password used to register on the popular online clothing website.
Leaving aside the problems Shein caused with an oversight of this size, our findings lead us to explore this data breach further. A thorough search reveals that the password of this leaked email began with “ainhoa” and then had more characters.
But the thing does not end there, since, searching for the combination of the name of his two daughters, that is, Ainhoa and Carlota, or what is the same, “ainhoacrlota”, we see that it was the password used on Shein by the account of email bego.fundraiser@gmail.com.
Beyond highlighting a problem that affects thousands of people who use weak passwords, the leak confirms that Pedro Sánchez’s wife used the email that appeared in the controversial master’s degree to buy on the popular Chinese clothing website.
