The owner of a Tesla Model 3 picked up his car from the garage, and shortly after, the vehicle went up in flames until it was completely destroyed. The owner of the car is called Ali Hasan and he is from Texas, United States.

Apparently, this Tesla Model 3 had a pretty hectic life. In 2021, he was in a major accident that caused severe frontal damage. In August 2022, another accident caused damage to the underbody and the loss of the front bumper.

Now, this fire seems to have put the finishing touch on this Tesla unit, although it was a complete surprise to its owner.

“Everything seemed fine. While driving on the freeway I noticed smoke coming from the right passenger seat and it got worse as he drove a few more feet to get it off the freeway,” the owner told CarScoops.

Ali Hasan picked up his car from a body shop, where he left it to repair some minor damage to the bodywork. Just ten minutes after leaving the garage, the car began to burn until it was totally charred on the shoulder of the highway.

As for the cause of the fire, it has not yet been determined. The owner doesn’t blame the shop, but acknowledges that there is a correlation: “From what I know so far, they replaced the sensors and the bumper and undercarriage.”

Then he deepened in a comment posted on Facebook: “They also changed some sensors, which now that I see it, go on the passenger side and they also changed a cover that goes under the trunk. I’m not pointing to anyone, I’m just saying a theory because it’s my only explanation.

The battery under suspicion

Some suspect that there was a problem with the battery, but Hasan says that has already been ruled out as a possible cause. However, it seems reasonable, considering that many electric car fires have been related to battery problems.

Fortunately, the owner of the Tesla Model 3 was able to escape in time and suffered no injuries, beyond some respiratory problems.
