The price of gasoline and diesel has been through the roof for months, but it is true that during the summer it has experienced a progressive (albeit slow) drop that made it less painful to go through the gas station. Unfortunately, that is over: the trend has changed and gasoline and diesel are rising again in Spain.
Gasoline had been falling for nine weeks in a row, a streak that has been broken, becoming 0.4% more expensive on September 1. The situation is still worse for diesel, which has been on an upward trend for two weeks and whose rate has already increased by 3.69%.
Without counting the discount of 20 cents and according to the Oil Bulletin of the European Union, compared to 2021 gasoline is 26.9% more expensive and diesel 49.6%.
Despite this, today, September 2, a very small general decline has been experienced again. Prices today are:
- Unleaded Gasoline 95: €1,788/litre
- Unleaded Gasoline 98: €1,955/litre
- Diesel A: €1,927/litre
- Diesel A+: €2,031/litre
Of course, the fact that diesel has a higher price than gasoline is still maintained, something that is not usual at all. It is another stone in the way of diesel cars, which as a general rule used the lower cost of their fuel to justify the higher price than the gasoline versions.
To establish a reference point, in a car that has a tank with a capacity of 50 liters it costs 89.4 euros in the case of a gasoline and 96.35 euros in the case of a diesel.
That, without including the state discount of 20 cents. With this applied, the invoice is lightened a bit: in the first case it costs 79.4 euros and in the second the amount remains at 86.35 euros.
