That is what it has taken to sell all the units of the new German sports car, the Volkswagen Golf R 333, which means one unit every 1.4 seconds.

480 seconds. Or what the same, eight minutes. That is what it has taken to sell all the units of the new German sports car, the Volkswagen Golf R 333. And that, despite the fact that it is the most expensive Golf in history, with a price in Germany of 76,410 euros.

In addition, taking into account that the production of the Volkswagen Golf R 333 is limited to 333 units, it means that a copy has been sold every 1.4 seconds.

That price is clearly higher than the 59,995 euros that last year’s Golf R 20th Anniversary Edition cost, which was practically the same car, and is also 18,425 euros more expensive than a Golf R Performance.

Paying an amount of money like this shows the loyalty of customers towards the brand, since they do not buy only technical specifications. There is also an emotional value.

Volkswagen Golf R 333

For less money it is possible to buy an Audi RS3 Sportback in Germany and, for a similar amount, you can get a Porsche 718 Cayman S. Both are more powerful than the Golf.

The Volkswagen Golf R 333 mounts the same engine as the 20th Anniversary edition, that is, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder block that develops 333 hp and 420 Nm of torque, linked to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. Configuration that allows you to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and reach 270 km/h.

Volkswagen Golf R 20 Years test: what a birthday present!

This model was an exclusive edition for Germany, unfortunately it is not offered in any other market. It was only available in a hatchback version, while the regular Golf R can also be chosen with the estate body.

Deliveries of the Golf R 333 to its lucky owners will begin next October, a ‘potential collector’s item’, as indicated by the German brand itself.

We can almost ensure that there will be no more powerful Golf than this, at least in Europe and with a combustion engine, due to increasingly strict anti-pollution regulations.
