There was a time when diesel engines were the most appreciated by drivers. The vast majority of cars sold were diesel and even the authorities encouraged them to buy them. But times have changed a lot and several brands have stopped producing these engines, although some still remain. These are the Volvo diesels that are for sale in Spain.
Volvo is one of the brands that announced the abandonment of diesel engines to bet on electrification. Currently, its range is made up of gasoline, hybrid, electric and micro-hybrid vehicles.
The latter, the microhybrids, are equipped with a gasoline or diesel engine, associated with a small auxiliary electric motor, which adds an additional 14 CV in certain circumstances. This is the only option to acquire a diesel Volvo currently.
Volvo S60/V60
Starting with the sedans, increasingly reviled, the Volvo S60 and its family variant V60 is available with a micro-hybrid diesel engine, the B4 with 197 hp, automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
Its price starts at 49,549 euros with the Core finish, but you can also choose the Plus and Ultimate finishes.
In addition to the sedan, there are also the variants with the family V60 body, with the same 197 hp B4 engine, from 48,479 euros with the Essential equipment level, more basic than the Core.
And we cannot forget the Volvo V60 Cross Country, the jacket version of the S60, with the same engine, automatic transmission and all-wheel drive and with two levels of equipment, Core and Ultimate, from 58,199 euros.
Volvo S90/V90
Volvo’s largest sedan is offered with a 235 hp B5 diesel engine, combined with an eight-speed manual gearbox and all-wheel drive.
With this configuration, the S90 goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds and declares an average consumption of 5.7 litres. Its price starts at 60,749 euros with the Core finish. It can also be chosen with the Plus and Ultimate finishes.

On the other hand, as with the S60, the V90 family variant is available, although, in this case, with the 197 hp B4 engine and front-wheel drive.
On the other hand, the V90 Cross Country can be chosen with the option B4, with 197 CV, and the B5, with 235 CV. In both cases, with automatic gearbox and AWD drive.
Volvo XC60
If you want an SUV, the first option available is the Volvo XC60, since the smallest of the family, the XC40, is no longer available with a diesel engine.
The only diesel XC60 is the B4 version, with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 197 hp, associated with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive. It declares an average consumption of 6.1 liters and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds.
The Volvo XC60 microhybrid diesel is for sale from 56,249 euros with the Essential finish. There are two other finishes available: Core and Plus.
Volvo XC90
Available in three finishes, Core, Plus and Ultimate, the Volvo XC90 can only be purchased with the 235 hp B5 diesel engine, with automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.
With this configuration, Volvo’s large SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and approves an average consumption of 7.6 litres. For sale from 79,148 euros.
