Fernando Alonso will pay homage to the four-time world champion, who says goodbye to Formula 1 this weekend.
Fernando Alonso will use a special helmet this weekend at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the last of the season, in tribute to Sebastian Vettel, who is saying goodbye to Formula 1 after fifteen years competing in the premier class. The German, four times world champion, has been one of Alonso’s main rivals in F1.
The last race of the season will be very emotional for Formula 1 in general and for Vettel in particular, since it will put an end to his time in the category in which he always dreamed of succeeding… and he did. Seb fulfilled the objective with which he landed in the championship back in 2007, to replace Robert Kubica in the United States GP.
Vettel finished that season riding a Toro Rosso, where he achieved his first victory in 2008, and Red Bull did not let him escape. After moving up to the main team in 2009, he won four titles in a row between 2010 and 2013, two of them won after a battle to the last race against Alonso, who was racing a Ferrari that never quite matched the German’s Red Bull. .
Despite the rivalry on the track, Alonso and Sebastian have always had a cordial relationship, and the best proof of this is the helmet that the Asturian rider will wear in Abu Dhabi this weekend, as a tribute to Seb and his career.

“Danke (thanks the German) Seb. We will share the track for the last time. It will be exciting and sad at the same time, but I wish you the best in your next chapter,” Alonso posted on his Instagram account, along with the image of the helmet he has dedicated to Vettel, where you can see the German flag on the front, just like the one the German wears on his.
In addition, on one side, Alonso’s helmet incorporates the words “Danke Seb (Thanks Seb)” along with the German flag and the characteristic logo of the four-time world champion.
Curiously, next season Alonso will occupy the seat vacated by Vettel in the Aston Martin F1 team. The German has not clarified if he will compete in some other category in the future or if he will dedicate himself to making up for lost time with his family.
