The Alpine team presents the A523, a single-seater with which they set the goal of repeating the fourth place in the Constructors’ World Championship achieved last year and getting closer to the ‘top 3’.

Alpine presented the Alpine A523 this afternoon, the first single-seater of the new era for the Enstone team, now without Fernando Alonso in the structure. The Spaniard will be replaced by Pierre Gasly, who will be Esteban Ocon’s partner in the French team, which has set itself the goal of equaling fourth place in the Constructors’ World Championship achieved last year.

At the end of a hectic week, in which we have known the single-seaters with which teams such as Ferrari, Aston Martin, McLaren or Mercedes will compete, the Alpine team has closed the round of presentations. The French formation, with an event held in London and not in Paris like other years, is preparing for a challenging season.

This year, Alpine will once again have distinctive livery, combining Alpine’s historic blue and the team’s main sponsor pink, as well as a crystallized decorative pattern symbolizing the team’s roots in the Alps.

And for the second year in a row, Alpine will use a special livery, mainly pink, for the first three races of the season, in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Australia.

The new Alpine A523

Alpine was ‘first of the rest’ last year. The team then made up of Ocon and Alonso, despite the reliability problems that mainly affected the Spanish driver, managed to win the battle against McLaren F1 to finish in fourth place in the standings, only behind Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes. .

For this year, the objective that they set is to repeat at least what was achieved in 2022, something that will not be easy, since teams like McLaren F1 or Aston Martin F1 are expected to take an important step forward and be their rivals in the battle for this position.

In this regard, Otmar Szafnauer, Team Principal, explained: “It was a fantastic feeling to achieve our goals in 2022 by finishing a well-deserved fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship; a healthy and significant milestone in our 100-race plan (to be in the fight for victories)”

“We have just under 80 races left in this mission and I am proud to lead the team on this journey. For 2023, the goal is simple: at the very least, we need to finish fourth, and in a much more convincing way. That is, finish more races, more points and fewer unforced withdrawals”.

“I have high expectations for everyone in the team, not forgetting Esteban and Pierre, who will work collaboratively to get the best possible results for the team,” he added.

The Enstone team, which naturally uses Renault engines (Alpine is, in fact, the Group’s sports brand), has a renewed driver line-up. Esteban Ocon, a driver who is reaching his fourth season with the team, is joined by Pierre Gasly, who is leaving Red Bull for the first time in his F1 career.

“I am looking forward to seeing the potential and capabilities of the A523 single-seater in pre-season testing and to continue to feel more comfortable with the team. To experience the power of the A522 at the end of last season and to see the developments the team is bringing to the This year’s car has made me excited for what’s to come with Alpine,” says Gasly.

His teammate, Ocon, commented: “I can’t wait to start the season and continue the upward trajectory of last year, and I’m looking forward to testing the car properly in pre-season testing.”

Both Ocon and Pierre have already had the opportunity to test the A523, in a ‘filming day’ that took place at Silverstone last Monday. The next time they get into their new car it will be in Bahrain, where the pre-season tests begin next Thursday.
