Although the plan is advancing little by little, Amazon is already taking giant steps on its way to introducing package delivery using drones in Europe. For now, the test that was just carried out in Italy has been a success and now the company is already heading towards 2025 with the intention of expanding the service.

The delivery of packages with drones could become a trend that is established in the coming years and that helps relieve delivery people of certain burdens, especially in delicate moments. For Amazon, for example, it was key that its MK30 drone could make deliveries even when it is raining, although with a gentle intensity, yes. Now they can confirm that the delivery in Europe has gone well and Amazon can look to the next step.

Packages of more than 2 kg

Of course, these drones are not going to deliver all the packages that leave Amazon warehouses in the future. For the moment, at least, the MK30 are capable of carrying loads of a maximum of 2.27 kg, taking care of carrying them even, as we said, when there is light rain. It remains to be seen what process Amazon will have to go through to be able to use these drones in Spain, but so far it has already received the necessary permits in the United States and Italy.

The process of establishing this service is still progressing slowly and a little behind forecasts, since it was originally thought that, in 2024, it would be available in several European countries. In the United States it is a service that already works in certain regions, such as Texas and Arizona, while in Europe it is expected to be implemented first in both Italy and the United Kingdom.

Expansion in 2025

With the many packages that have already been delivered in the United States and this first test in Italy, Amazon is simply waiting to receive the necessary permits. Possibly, Italy is the country that is closest to enjoying the implementation of this drone delivery service. After the test, Amazon would only have to wait for the corresponding approval so that they can begin offering this type of delivery to those who have a Prime subscription.

In the United Kingdom, where it was thought that it could have been offered as early as 2024, Amazon drone deliveries will still have to wait. The government has selected a total of six projects that it intends to test and analyze with the intention of verifying which drone services they will approve. In the case of Spain, it is unknown what the situation is or what plan Amazon has to start making deliveries with drones.

This type of drone, the MK30, is prepared to be a high-tech tool that has the capacity to make deliveries successfully without being affected by obstacles. Among other things, they can be moved without animals, people or any type of installation becoming a problem. They are drones prepared to perform at a high level and with the intention of moving efficiently until they reach their destination.

Can you imagine the experience it will be to receive packages with drones? As you can see in the video that we have shared with you recorded during the test in Italy, it will be a fairly simple shipment, at least for now. The drone rises and then drops the box. Not that futuristic vision in which the drone arrives through the window with the freshly made pizza, but it can leave the package in the garden. It is assumed that, yes, the type of delivery will improve as time goes by, since Amazon fully trusts in this investment.
