Around with the Honda CB1000R 2024: Will it be so?

A couple of months ago we showed you the patent drawings of a new Honda CB1000R or RR. It would be an unprecedented motorcycle, with the engine of the 2017 CBR1000RR (190 CV) and a chassis that uses the engine as an important structural part.

The single-sided swingarm would connect to the shock absorber -located horizontally on the left side of the engine- by means of rods that would attack progressivity rods.

What if he uses the engine from the CBR1000RR-R?

The engine of the sketches, as we have said, is that of the 2017 CBR1000RR, although we do not rule out that it could mount that of the current CBR1000RR-R, with its bestial 217 CV. The CB could perfectly have 200-205 CV and join the very small group of hypernaked that exceed 200 CV (MV Agusta 1000 Rush/Brutale, Ducati Streetfighter V4, BMW M 1000 R).

From Japan they say that the project of the new Honda CB1000R 2024 is underway and even the Webike.net website advances some renders with the possible design, based on the Honda drawings that we saw in October.

If the Neo Sports Café design has worked on the CB650R (and 125 and 300), it clearly hasn’t on the CB1000R. In the high displacements it seems that the ‘streefighter’ concept is the one that takes the cake and the key to the success of the Ducati or the popular Kawa Z900, and even the Yamaha MT-09. Also the power of the current CB1000R (145 CV) is far from the 165-180 CV of the current naked sports cars, let alone the more than 200CV of the three most extreme models.

A detail of the drawing where the exhaust can be seen reveals that it has two clearly differentiated outlets. This makes more sense after the introduction of the Hornet, which also has a two-way exhaust. On the 750, at low revs the gases exit through a single orifice, while at high rpm they do so through both, changing the sound and behavior of the engine.

With wings, of course.

The designs that come from Japan take the lines of the new CB750 Hornet, but taken to a more radical extreme than in the Hornet. There is no shortage of spoilers that we saw in the drawings and that all current hyper sports naked has.

The shock absorber of the bike in the render is located in a more conventional position, behind the engine and vertically, whereas in the sketches it is placed horizontally on the left side of the propeller, like on the Ducati Panigale or Streetfighter.

We may see two versions: one more basic and another (SP?) with more sophisticated suspension and brakes.

This bike should be seen in the autumn shows next year, to be officially presented in 2024.
