We have been announcing it for a long time: in China they have gotten rid of any complex and are going for it. Those times when Chinese motorcycles were simple 125 poorly made are beginning to be left behind.

And for some years now we have been seeing two- and four-cylinder motorcycles made in the Asian giant. In some cases with completely proprietary technology and in other cases using the knowledge (the famous ‘know-how’) of recognized manufacturers.

There are brands that until recently were totally unknown, such as Benda, which has dared to manufacture motorcycles with inline four-cylinder engines, or the best-known CFMoto, which has equipped some of its recent models with KTM technology twin-cylinder engines, such as the trail 800MT or the touring 1250 TR-G. The well-known Kove is also working on a sports car with an inline four-cylinder, the 400 RR.

Some sketches and homologation records discovered by the Chinese website motooy.com show that CFMoto is developing a V4-powered hypercar. A concept that most renowned manufacturers have been abandoning -with the exception of the Italian Ducati and Aprilia- given the cost and complexity of this type of engine.

This is the V4 engine, which seems to be at 75º, like the first ones used on the KTM RC16. In MotoGP they are now at 90º.

As we have commented, the engine is a V4 with an angle that seems to be 75º, like the twin-cylinder that KTM uses in its Super Duke and Super Adventure, despite the fact that in its current MotoGP RC16 it uses a V4 at 90º 8until 2017 the angle was 75º). But it is possible that the Chinese manufacturer is based on the technology of the Austrian engine to create its V4.

The drawings show two separate coolant lines for each cylinder block.

The short cams indicate that the engine is designed to move at high revs. In fact, in the registration application, 150 kW is declared, that is, 204 hp.

At the moment it is just a patent registration, but everything indicates that we will see it in production. Let’s remember that it already happened with the 450 SR, the production bike based on the SR-C21 proto. In the registration drawing the aesthetics of the 1000 is very similar to that of the 450.

The CFMoto will not be the only sports Japanese four-cylinder. QJ Motor has the 1000 RR project underway, with the inline four-cylinder engine from the MV Agusta Brutale 1000.
