DAZN users are sports lovers who surely always want more sports modalities and more competitions of each one. The streaming platform has just announced the arrival of new content related to basketball, a sport that had been somewhat orphaned when the Euroleague in Spain was lost in favor of Movistar Plus+.

These arrive under the Courtside 1981 format, a streaming platform produced by FIBA and dedicated to international competitions, but in which several local leagues can also be followed.

More basketball on DAZN

Lovers of the sport of basketball are in luck, because from now on DAZN will give you more basketball. The streaming platform specialized in sports has reached an agreement with the FIBA (International Basketball Federation).

DAZN integrates the contents of Courtside 1891

Thanks to this agreement, which will be in force for 6 years, DAZN will be able to distribute the Courtside 1891 signal throughout the world. This is FIBA’s live streaming platform focused on national team basketball, which replaced LiveBasketball.tv in February 2022.

This streaming platform now available on DAZN features live and on-demand content from FIBA international competitions. These include the FIBA World Cups and their qualifying matches, as well as all FIBA continental competitions and the Youth World Cups.

Users with a Courtside 1891 account also have international club competitions such as the Basketball Champions League, FIBA Intercontinental Cup, Women’s EuroLeague and East Asia Super League available both live and on VOD. It also even has the broadcast of certain regional leagues, such as our Endesa League (unfortunately not in Spain, since the rights are held by Movistar Plus+), NBL (Australian Basketball League), the Japanese league and much more.

“FIBA is pleased to announce this agreement with DAZN, which represents a significant expansion of the distribution and visibility of major FIBA events through Courtside 1891. Furthermore, this addition to the already extensive partnership between FIBA and DAZN is an example of the synergies we have achieved together. “DAZN is the global leader in D2C sports and once again recognizes the undoubted value of international and club basketball,” said FIBA Media Director Frank Leenders.

Is it included in the subscription?

For this novelty we can expect a similar operation to what the arrival of NFL Game Pass had at the time, dedicated to American football that is preparing to celebrate its Super Bowl. This means it is available as a standalone offering on DAZN, with paid and free-to-access premium content available to registered users.

The additional subscription to Courtside 1891 from DAZN has a monthly price of 9.99 euros per month, and can be canceled with 30 days notice. In case you intend to use it throughout the year, it has a much more interesting price of 37.99 euros per year.

What FIBA achieves with this global distribution agreement is to amplify the number of potential users of the International Basketball Federation’s streaming platform, making DAZN customers have the additional subscription in their hands whenever they want.

Shay Segev, CEO of DAZN Group, wanted to assess the importance of this global agreement with the following words: “DAZN already has a solid proposal for basketball competitions, being the third most watched sport on the platform, and our ambition is to become in the reference destination for fans of this sport around the world. “We have been collaborating with FIBA for years and I look forward to working increasingly closely with them and other partners to bring the best experience to basketball fans.”
