Digi is the big winner this year in terms of number of ports. In the 10 months of 2024, the company has shown that it does not stop growing, reaching one million new customers. The operator has reached this figure with six zeros two weeks after releasing its new cheaper rates, so they may have had a lot to do with it.
The Romanian Internet and mobile phone provider Digi continues to surprise us with its growth in 2024. Although its rise in Spain had been slower in the third annual quarter, the brand has taken off. Especially after the launch of their new offers.
Digi has always been characterized by having low prices, but since mid-October they have become even lower. The telecommunications company responded to the reduction in Lowi and Finetwork rates and counterattacked with irresistible discounts. For example, we can contract a fiber-only plan from 10 euros, a mobile-only plan from 3 euros and a fiber and mobile plan from 12 euros.
Digi’s price drop has become the definitive push that the firm needed to reach and exceed one million customers in Spain. The operator has not stopped growing like crazy since 2024 began, with an exaggeratedly greater number of ports than its rivals, and the current situation is the result of Digi’s efforts in the last 10 months.
At this time, Digi assures that it has carried out from January to October 2024. According to their statement, this represents an increase of around 16% compared to the results obtained in the same period last year, in 2023.
More than 7 and a half million customers in Digi Spain
Digi recognizes that, of the more than one million ports so far this year, just over 764,300 are net ports. When Digi talks about net portability, it refers to the difference between the number of clients that enter and those that leave through the portability. The figure is lower in this case, but is still positive compared to 2023, with an increase of more than 15%.
In fact, the month of October has been Digi’s best to date. In these 31 days, the company has achieved its best historical data in fixed and mobile telephony portability, with more than 128,500. Of this figure, some 109,000 are mobile lines, which is the operator’s highest monthly record and exceeds the record of 80,000 that MásMóvil achieved at the time.
Thanks to the arrival of new customers at Digi, the operator has more than 7.5 million customers in total, according to data collected in the first half of 2024. Of them, more than 5.29 million are mobile phone users , more than 1.67 million have the brand’s fiber service, and more than 544,000 opt for its fixed lines. The numbers have possibly increased in recent months, as ports have grown to reach one million.
Digi: a bet beyond the price
Low-cost rates are not the only incentive that makes users opt for Digi. The operator has 5G networks for those who contract its mobile phone service. Thus, users with smartphones compatible with this connectivity can enjoy maximum speed and quality in their communications over the phone. Additionally, Digi uses technologies such as VoLTE and VoWiFi, which provides better quality of phone calls.
For its part, Digi not only has competitive prices for its fiber services. It also has its own deployed network that has been classified as the “fastest fiber in Spain” for 3 consecutive years, according to the Ookla Speedtest Awards analysis.
