In recent months, Lotus has leaked some sketches of the design of its future model, which will not be a sports car, but an SUV. Because yes, the British brand also surrenders to the power of the SUVs. Eletre: this is the name of the new Lotus, a fully electric SUV.

Now, we can confirm that the company’s new model, until now known as Type 132, will be officially presented tomorrow, the 29th. With Eletre, Lotus continues the tradition of giving its models a name that begins with the letter ‘E’.

From what we have been able to see in the images, we can get an idea of what the Lotus Eletre will be like, an SUV with an elegant and visually attractive design, with careful aerodynamics to promote efficiency and autonomy performance.

Going into detail, the Eletre has a curved and floating roof, a slightly inclined rear window, which helps create a silhouette more typical of a coupé and highlights the absence of rear-view mirrors, replaced by cameras, as in other electric cars.

At the front, it debuts the new Lotus design language, with narrow, horizontal headlights instead of the vertical ones used by the Lotus Emira and Evija, as well as a bumper with a large central air intake.

Behind the front fenders, we find another ventilation intake. On the roof, there appears to be a large LiDAR sensor while, at the rear, we see a large split spoiler and an LED strip that runs the full width of the car, in keeping with current fashion.

From the interior we know very few details, only that it will have a fully digital instrument panel with a futuristic design and a multifunction steering wheel with touch controls.

A fully electric and dynamic SUV

The fact that it is an electric car does not mean that it does not offer the typical dynamic qualities that Lotus introduces in its combustion models. This is how the British brand understands it and, although we do not yet know much about the propulsion system, we do know that it will offer high performance.

The company has revealed that it will have two battery options, 90 and 120 kWh, an 800-volt architecture and its electric motor will be capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in less than three seconds, depending on the version.

Tomorrow we will know more about the Lotus Eletre, which will join the Emira and Evija. However, the brand plans to use the Eletre platform to make a four-door coupe in 2023, another smaller crossover in 2025 and a sports car in 2026.
